Shopping in Barcelona

La Ramblas (sometimes spelled Rambla) is a street in central Barcelona, popular with both tourists and locals alike. A 1.2 kilometer-long tree-lined pedestrian mall between Barri Gòtic and El Raval, it connects Plaça Catalunya in the center with the Christopher Columbus monument. Even with the weak exchange rate, great deals such asfashionable leather shoes and boots can be found for prices much less than in the United States. La Ramblas is part of a famous three-mile shopping district, an area that stretches from the top of the Ramblas, through Placa de Catalunya along Passeig de Gràcia and up Avenue Diagonal. It is a pleasant experience to walk and browse from shop to shop.

La Ramblas can get crowded in the summertime. Also, there is a risk of pickpocketing in this area and appropriate common sense precautions should be taken.
