Picasso Museum, Barcelona
Barcelona is home to the Picasso Museum and offers a tour that sheds light on the famous artists life and time.
Born in Malaga, Picasso lived off and on in the Barcelona between the yea
rs 1895 and 1904, before leaving Spain alltogether for the bohemian art scene in Paris. The Picasso Museum's collection comes mostly from the private collection of the artists longtime friend, Jaume Sabartes.
The Museum opened in 1966. It's highlights include: Picassos childhood drawings made in La Coruna between the ages of 10 and 14; his blue period paintings; and his 44 cubist Las Meninas studies.
There is also a tour of the artist's childhood home that has been furnished in the style of the area and contains a permanent exhibition of Picassos early sketches and sculptures.
